title SHI Signs Agreement to Sponsor the Establishment of an IT Center at a Public School in India
date 2012.08.27

Samsung Heavy Industries is supporting the IT and science education of students at a public
school located at a slum in Delhi, India.

Samsung Heavy Industries entered into an agreement with Plan Korea, an NGO, on August 24,
2012, to build an IT center and upgrade the science room at Sarvodaya Public School
in Dwarka, Delhi, India.

Samsung Heavy Industries will donate KRW 150 million, which includes KRW 75 million donated
by employees and KRW 75 million contributed by the company under the matching grant system.

As a design center operator in India, Samsung Heavy Industries was planning its social contribution
activities when it learned that a public school was having difficulties due to outdated educational facilities.
It decided to become a sponsor of the school.

Sarvodaya Public School, which is attended by more than 6,000 primary, middle and high
school students, has no IT education facilities, and its science room is so out-of-date that it is
no longer used by students.

Samsung Heavy Industries plans to establish an IT center equipped with 50 PCs and a variety
of Internet equipment for IT education, and to upgrade the science room and donate various
experiment tools. When the Center is completed, students in the 11th and the 12th grades can
take IT classes under the official educational curriculum.

Employees of Samsung Heavy Industries will volunteer at the school from September 12 to
September 14, 2012. They will paint murals on the walls of the school, give stationery to
students and have a sports rally with students.

The volunteers will be joined by local employees from the design center in India as well as
employees of the Indian branch of Shell, which is located next to the School.

Shell placed an order for Prelude FLNG, the world’s largest LNG-FPSO, by Samsung Heavy
Industries. This volunteer program will unite employees of a shipper and a shipyard in a third
country. The design center of Samsung Heavy Industries in India will continuously sponsor
Sarvodaya Public School in the future.
